This is my introduction to my family and where my family come from.
It is important in my culture to share this with others.
When we do this we make connections and from this connections friends are made.

In our hub there are new faces, old faces and those you have seen before, this year we would like you to share who you are and where your family has come from.
Subsequently making connections to others cultures and perspectives.
Me tīmata rawe koe ki te take ka eke ai koe ki te tihi o te maunga.
You must begin at the beginning of the mountain to get to the summit.
Take no shortcuts.

Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa

A little about me... Mrs Parker

Kia Ora tamariki and whānau and welcome to Learning Hub 8.

I am one of your teacher's this year and my name is Mrs Parker.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.

Firstly a little about myself, I live with my husband Tamati in Auckland and we are busy renovating our house.
I love cooking and creating new recipes.
At school I enjoy maths, concept learning, and sports.
I also like listening to music and riding my bike.
This summer I have been enjoying riding my Stand up Paddle Board [SUP]. It's huge - 10ft tall - I am only 5.5"!

I also had the amazing experience of going paragliding (and conquering my fear of heights) while on holiday in Queenstown.

This year I am looking forward to seeing all the learners in Hub 8 challenging themselves to take on new learning.
We are going to spend the first few weeks getting to know ourselves and one another.

To get you thinking in the meantime I want to share this question from Kid President with you

The world would be a more awesome if___________________
If what? Answer in the comments below.

Kia Ora from Mr Stuart!

Kia Ora tamariki and whānau and welcome to another exciting year of learning at Stonefields.

My name is Mr Stuart and I'm the new Leader of Learning in Hub 8.
Here's a little bit about me: I've just moved up from Wellington where I taught at a school in Tawa for 6 years. I love music and have played in various bands all my life. I play piano, guitar, and drums. I love integrating technology into teaching and learning in exciting and innovative ways.

I also love exploring the outdoors, especially tramping, skiing, and camping. These holidays I have just led a camp out on Ponui Island (Chamberlins Island) for a week. It was a natural kiwi sanctuary with about 2000 kiwi on the island so you could see them roaming about every night!

We saw a baby Kiwi right outside our tent!
How were your holidays? Did you challenge yourself to do anything new or exciting? Leave a comment below!

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon :-)
