The Great Duck Game Race

This week for our learning in concept we have been learning to collaborate to achieve goals.
In our groups we had to create a contraption which would be able to drag the duck through the 'river' (a blue strip of carpet in the middle of the classroom).
There were a series of obstacles to pass in the 'river' and 5 second penalties were allocated for any groups which a) stepped in the river, b) hit an obstacle, c) lifted the duck off the ground, or d) if the duck leaves the river.

The learners really had to work together as a team to complete this task successfully. Not to mention it was wonderfully exciting to watch and participate. 

My procedural of how to make a double waka, By Sophie

How to make a boat.

Materials:

• 2 skewers
• A piece of paper
• 2 semicircle pieces of flax stalk
• Hot glue gun
• Pens for decorating(optional).

       

1.Hot glue the two pieces of wood together.

2.Get a skewer and break a piece of that is about the length of the large end.Stick it on the end of the waka.

3.Break another piece of the skewer and stick it in the middle.

4.Get the other skewer and stick it on the end.

5.Get your piece of paper and make a triangular shape.This will be your sail.Decorate it.

Stick your sail on the skewer that is sticking up.You are done.

How to make a double waka - by Jensen

When I was writing this I had to go back and fourth through the book and had a little bit of trouble writing in second person. At first I did not know how to write in second person but then I got better at writing in second person.  

Procedual text - How to draw a elephant. By Vera

In literacy, Mrs Parker's group have been learning about how to write a procedural text, we had to watch some youtube videos with no sounds, and write the steps by our self. We also got to add some photo's to go with our writing, to make it easier to understand.

How to draw a elephant (easy)

Materials

Paper

Pencil/Pen/Vivid/Sharpie

A circle for tracing(optional)

Colouring pens (optional)

Instructions

1) Get your piece of paper and your pencil then draw a circle for the face of the elephant.

2) Now draw two curved lines going of the bottom a little bit side.

3) To make the hands on each side draw a horizontal line then another

straight line going up from each side and then connect it together!

4) Draw a circle on each side then connect them to the elephant's body.

5) He needs to have some nails!

6) Go ahead and draw him a trunk.

7) Draw your elephant some eyes and also draw him some ears to make them look more realistic add a line in the ears.

8) Colour the eyes in and make sure you leave a white spot in the middle.

9) For some finishing touches draw a few lines on the trunk, and some hair on the elephant.

10) If you want to make your elephant colourful, colour it in with coloured pencils!

Handy tips

If you want to make a perfect circle you can get a round object and trace it.
