The Deer Debate

This week, one of the groups in Mrs.Parker's literacy group has been learning about the Deer Debate in New Zealand and were set up with a task to create a persuasive writing or poster, I have chosen to create a little mix of both.
The first task was to build our vocabulary knowledge, the second task is below and the third, underneath the second.

Task 2:Summarising:Deer are not a native animal in New Zealand. Write one paragraph to explain how and why deer came to be in New Zealand bush.

Deer were not a native animal and were brought in from many different countries. They had been introduced into our country for hunting and for food sources.

They also introduced Stoats,Possums,Rats and many others during this time.

They were all brought here by shipping, as it took months and months to ship them in the old days most of them died.

But for the lucky few who survived were introduced to a new home, unfortunately for them trophy hunters found New Zealand the best place for hunting games. Now, there are not many deer left as they are hunted for trophies and also slaughtered for their meat. But as Deer harm our fauna and flora, it is not that much of a bad thing or a good thing.
