Christian: Why humans should incorporate insects int their diets

​

If you ever saw a bug in your food what would you think? Would you pick it up and eat it or scream and run away in disgust. If I told you to imagine biting into an insect like a cricket or a beetle would your mouth start to water at the thought or would you screw your nose up? if you chose the latter for any of those questions  then that's why i'm here, to explain to you my thoughts on homo sapiens eating insects.

The very thought of bugs tend to disgust people, especially the the thought of having them be in your mouth, however the amount of minerals and vitamins they contain is very surprising. Pork, chicken and beef have a comparable content of protein, however the amount of minerals and vitamins such as calcium, zinc and iron make you able to say curtain that insects are healthier than meat. The fat contained inside an insect is very low.

Also,  insects require less land to farm.  The amount of land to grow one pound of beef compared to one pound of crickets is  preposterous.  For every two hundred  square metres of land it takes to grow one pound of beef it takes only fifteen square metres to grow one pound of crickets. Which is a big difference,  say for every One thousand and two hundred square metres it takes to grow six pounds of beef that is only ninety square metres of land to grow six pounds of crickets. That means it takes less land to grow 13 pounds of crickets than one pound of beef which may not affect you but can solve the world's hunger crisis,  or the world's housing crisis. If we use more land for farming meat then we have less land for houses and living space and areas.

Water is a much needed part of a human's life without it we would not survive so we do not want any water getting wasted, However to produce one kilogram of beef it takes two thousand two hundred Litres of water. To produce one kilogram of pork it takes three thousand and five hundred

Litres of water and of course one kilogram of chicken it takes two thousand three hundred litres of water, which all take a lot of water to produce, but to produce kilogram of crickets it takes only one litre of water.

I could go on about all the reasons you should incorporate bugs into your diet but wouldn't you

Feel good after trying something new, maybe going out of your comfort zone sometimes.  After reading my persuasive writing if I asked you If you ever saw a bug in your food what would you think? If you chose the latter for any of those questions  then I have not succeeded to persuade you.

I believe that I improved in my collaboration skills during my show from working together with my team

Many people told me that I was hilarious and parents commented on the show saying it was very funny.

Include the audience more than just them watching they would be in it.

Christian's tsunami work

                                                   

The word Tsunami originates from Japanese and means " harbour wave".

A tsunami is most frequently caused by an earthquake on the seafloor. However, coastal landslides and volcanic eruptions can also cause tsunamis. Normal ocean waves are caused by the wind and tides so are different to tsunamis.

A tsunami is a series of powerful waves that can travel up to  500 miles an hour while in deep ocean water and are quite small. However, when they reach shallow water near the coastline they  increase  in size, but slow down. A tsunami can reach up to 20 metres.

People in the path of a tsunami can be warned in various ways. The tide may go out very quickly, sirens may be used,  and warnings provided by tsunami or hazard watchers.seismograph detects undersea earthquakes.

when the sea level rises that is when you can tell a large amount of water has been displaced.The result can ruin crops. cattle even buildings can be knocked down from the force human beings lives are lost  or they are very injured.from the water flooding over the land from the energy pushing the water up .

Science recount by Christian

On Tuesday Hub 8 did a science rotation for science week

I did the fizz inflator with Mrs Parker first we mixed sugar ,yeast and water what it did was amazing the mixture inflated the balloon that we placed over the top of the bottle smothering it with carbon dioxide .

After that I did the dancing raisins that did nothing whatsoever I seriously thought that something would happen they did not dance at all.

For the final experiment I did the incredible hoop glider i was given a straw and a piece of cut up paper and made a circle out of one of the piece of paper and a bigger circle  out of  the piece of paper lef.t I taped them on the straw and i was done. It works because the pressure of the air whizzing through the paper pushed it up we call this aerodynamics.

Breakthrough today

An awesome day of break through today. Our projects are all well underway and making some fantastic progress. 

We have two baking teams. Maya, Holly and Mikayla are baking treats to raise money for the Cancer Foundation. While Isabella R and Maddy are focusing on creating healthy baking, they are experimenting how to use less sugar to make delicious treats.

Theatre sports alive in Hub 8

We definitely have some amazing actors quick to respond great to understand. But most important of them all , collaboration was alive in hub 8 inclusive and respectful.  

Yoga

Stretching and making aeroplanes with our bodies seems to be harder than we thought
It looks like we may need to visit this yoga thing again.
