Manaiakalani Film Festival 2016: Mad Science

Have you ever wanted a day off school, but you're not actually sick?

Well our mad scientist may have found the perfect solution for you... just remember DO NOT GET CAUGHT.....

This is our 2016 Manaiakalani Film Festival entry, we were a little in the learning pit about how we could do some of the effects, but thanks to the magic of green screen we were successful.

Breakthrough exhibition by Rachel

The breakthrough exhibition
On Tuesday it was the breathrough exhibition. I was going in the first block which was 4:30-5:30. I went to my table and waited for people to come by and answered their question and told them to rate the dollhouse. When it was 5:30, I went and looked at all the other hubs and they had all types of cool stuff and had food. It was a really fun time.

What part of your exhibition are you most proud of?
Lots of people came by and rated and looked at our station. That made me proud since we spent along time on it.

  • What area of the graduate profile do you think you have grown the most? And Why? (Building Learning Capacity, Making Meaning, Collaboration, Breakthrough
Collaboration~I listen to and I am respectful of others ideas when they are different to my own.
We collaborated together because agreed on ideas like what colours the furniture should be.

Breakthrough~I can talk about what I like and what I am good at and follow some of these interests in breakthrough
I went with something that I was passionate about and would challenge me.

  • What feedback did you get from visitors last night?
Most people said it looked good and had lots of detail and they really liked it. There were lot's of sheets with 5 stars for the rating.

  • What part of your exhibition would you have done differently?
We would have printed more rating sheets because we ran out quickly. That was a problem because we had planned to see everyones idea on the dollhouse if it needed to improve or they liked it . The solution was Ashikka's mum had to make some with paper because we couldn't print more.

  • Who would you like to thank for supporting you in your breakthrough learning?
Ashikka because she helped me alot through the whole journey. We collaborated together alot. She helped me glue the tiles on and to make the entire dollhouse.

Paddy’s debate

Can you really imagine a game without the haka? Can you really? Can you really imagine a game without the haka? Can you really? I strongly believe that the All Blacks should perform the haka, ka mate because it is to do with the maori culture and it is from the maori warriors before they went to war. The haka scares the opponents like now. When  the new people come in the team the haka get’s really strong because the people who have already been in the team teach the new players. Then they will keep practicing and it would get really strong. The all blacks have also been doing the haka for 100 years and it is to do with the maori tradition. They also need to be respectful to how it is done and this is why I think that the All Blacks should perform the haka.

Go All Black’s!

The Haka Ka mate

The All Blacks say that they don’t want the camera’s in their faces while doing the haka ka mate.

In my opinion I believe the haka should not be performed because it doesn’t belong to them.
I hope to show you in my debate good reasons why they should not perform the haka.

They also say that they are just doing the haka for entertainment. Another reason is that the All Blacks say it is time to move on from the Maori tradition. All Blacks also say the famous haka Kamate is inappropriate to perform on tv and in front of the audience and I agree.

In conclusion

I hope you have been convinced by my speech of why the All Blacks should not perform the haka kamate. Thank you for listening.

Break through By:Ashikka & Rachel

Ashikka and Rachel made some cardboard furniture for a doll house we are making  it to donate.
To make the doll house that Ashikka and Ashikka's mum made they  used four shoe boxes and some  old calendar  paper to make the dollhouse .
